Dr. Gaither Bynum received his medical education at the University of New Mexico Medical School,
Harvard School of Public Health, and the National Institute on Aging/National Institute of Health.
He is Board certified in Preventative Medicine and Board eligible in Emergency Medicine and
Anti-aging Medicine. He joined the active staff of Stevens Community Medical Center in April
of 1993.
Like other physicians, Dr. Bynum appreciates the variety of his practice. "The fast pace, high
intensity and rapid feed back of Emergency Medicine is very satisfying," he says. "The ability
to make an immediate difference in a patient's health is so rewarding." Dr. Bynum feels that
the administrative aspects of health care can be satisfying, too. He has a long term interest
in the distribution of health care and management of physicians. Dr. Bynum also has a particular
interest in the aging process and reducing age-related health problems.
He and his wife Virginia have six grown children. Dr Bynum truly enjoys working, but in his
spare time he takes pleasure in spending time with his wife and traveling.
