Dr. Goering began practicing at SCMC in March of 1998. She specializes in Internal Medicine and
takes special interest in heart disease, pacemaker follow up, hypertension,
diabetes and women's health. Since joining SCMC, she has learned to do colonoscopies
and has received special training in pacemaker implantation. She
received both her bachelor's degree in biochemistry and medical degree from the University of
Minnesota in Minneapolis. She completed her residency at the University of Iowa in Iowa City in
1995. She is Board Certified in Internal Medicine and a member of the American Medical Association.
Dr. Goering accepted the position at SCMC to continue practicing in a rural setting and to
allow her to spend more time with her husband and family. She and her husband, Bill, have three
children - Tony, Theresa and Raeann. "My position is four days per week and allows me three
days to spend with my husband and children while still enjoying a full primary care practice."
Originally from Minnetonka, they now live in Alexandria. The entire family enjoys swimming,
boating, and fishing. The Goerings also enjoy winter sports such as snowmobiling, cross country
and downhill skiing.
