Radiologists play an instrumental role in the detection of many diseases.
They are physicians who have completed intensive education to qualify them to interpret all types of
x-ray examinations.
Services available at SCMC include x-ray, CAT, ultrasound, MRI, mammography, biopsy, spinal injection, and dexa scan.
Dr. Andrea V. Giambi has been providing services to Stevens Community Medical Center since March
of 1997 and became a full time member of the active staff in November. Dr. Giambi enjoys working
in Morris. "I've wanted to practice in a small town for a long time," he says. Dr. Giambi grew
up in a small town north of Florence, Italy. He came to live in the United States after meeting
his wife, Linda, who was visiting his hometown. "Both my wife's mother and her father's parents
are from my hometown."
Dr. Giambi completed both his undergraduate and medical education at the University of
Osteopathic Medicine and Health Sciences in Des Moines, Iowa, obtaining a PA/BS degree and then
his medical degree. Dr. Giambi was on the National Deans list from 1984 through 1988. During
medical school, he received several prestigious awards and graduated with distinction. After
completing a rotating internship at Broadlawns Medical Center in Des Moines, he completed a
radiology residency at Aultman Hospital in Canton, Ohio, where he was Chief Resident. Dr. Giambi
has enjoyed radiology from the beginning and knew by his second year of college that it was the
career he wanted to pursue. He has a special interest in Mammography, Body CT, Ultrasound,
Ultrasound/CT guided biopsy and spinal injection for back pain. He is a member of the American
College of Radiology and the International Spinal Injection Society.
Dr. Giambi and his wife have one son, Stephan. Dr. Giambi's interests include hunting,
racquetball and skiing.
